On 15 October 2013, and during the participation of detainee Abbas Abed Al-Nabi Abbas Mohammad Marhoun (21 years) in a peaceful assembly in Karkazan, he was injured in the right side of his head with a gas bomb shot from a C4 weapon, which smashed his skull and lead to serious injuries. He was transferred to the Hamad Kano medical center where he lost consciousness and entered a coma, he was put under 3 operations to decrease the pressure inside his skull after it turned out that he was injured in his right temple. He was then put under medical monitoring.
Injured detainee Abbas was apprehended 3 times:
First apprehension was on 21 February 2014 at 8:00 am, when armed individuals barged into his house wearing civilian cloths, he was apprehended and and taken into the criminal investigation building, and on 24 February 2014 he was released after being held in custody for 3 days.
Second apprehension was on 27 December 2015, when armed forces also wearing civilian cloths barged again into his house, he was apprehended and taken to the criminal investigation building. We mention that a week prior to this arrest he was under surgery. He was then released on 28 December 2015.
Third apprehension was on 2 September 2016, when armed forces barged into his house again, he was apprehended and taken to the criminal investigation building.
On 5 September 2016 he was transferred to Jaw central prison to serve sentences issued against him of charges relating to assemblage.
The nervous and brain surgery consultant Dr. Al-Darazi called the Bahraini authorities through Twitter for the release of detainee Marhoun, mentioning that the apprehension will complicate his sufferings, especially with his epileptic fits and severe head pains which he is suffering from.
The Bahraini German organisation for Human Rights calls the Bahraini authorities for the immediate release of detainee Abbas Abed Al-Nabi Abbas Mohammad Marhoun, mainly because he is an opinion detainee, and also taking into consideration his medical and human condition, and holds the authorities responsible for any negative complications of his health since the medical condition of detainees isn’t taken into consideration like with the case of deceased Hassan Al-Haiki who was killed under torture and medical neglection inside prison.
The Bahraini German organisation calls for the questioning of the security forces that shot the gas bomb which injured detainee Marhoun, whereas no investigation was opened for this incident, all which assures the policy of impunity followed by the Bahraini authorities.
